Ivy league universities follow a “ risk minimisation policy “ therefore they will reject an application rather than risk diluting the quality. Thus only the academically top notch students who set themselves apart, with a spike in their profile, are the ones who have any chances! A generic application however good, will not make it.
An essay should not be a replica of your cv . An essay or recommendation that only praises or talks about achievements is definitely not acceptable . It has to be an honest evaluation. Do not submit extra letter of recommendation , unless you are sure that the quality of all are as great.
